Vol. 8 No. 4

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - RETURN OF GUNS.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state why two guns, which were handed to the National Army stationed at Nenagh Barracks, by Mr. W. Bedford-Cameron, on the 20th February, 1922, and for which he holds a receipt, have not been returned to him, and why the letters addressed by Mr. Cameron to the Acting Q.M.G., Chief Ordnance Office, Island Bridge, on the 11th February, 1924, and on the 14th April, 1924, were not answered, and whether, in the event of those guns not being available, he will make arrangements for the payment of compensation to the owner.

Efforts have been made to trace Mr. Bedford-Cameron's guns, but so far without success. Pending the receipt of certain reports regarding these efforts, replies could not be sent to the letters referred to by the Deputy.

The question of payment of compensation in respect of loss of guns in cases of the kind has yet to receive consideration. In the event of his guns not being found, Mr. Bedford-Cameron's claim will be given due attention.
