Vol. 8 No. 15

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - SOLDIER'S DEPENDENT'S ALLOWANCE.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that the dependent's allowance of 7s. per week which was granted to Mrs. Mary Gilchrist, Ballynacargy, Westmeath, in respect of her son, Corporal Joseph Gilchrist, No. 3667, who was killed in Kerry in October, 1922, was discontinued on March 31st, 1924; and whether, as Mrs. Gilchrist, was dependent on deceased, he will have this case reconsidered forthwith.

Payment of dependent's allowance ceased generally on the 31st March last. Mrs. Gilchrist's claim to pension or gratuity under the Army Pensions Act, 1923, was received on the 11th instant. The necessary investigations will be made and a decision taken in the case with the least possible delay.
