Vol. 9 No. 11

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - SUPPLEMENTARY GRANTS TO EX-OFFICERS.

LIAM MAC SIOGHUIRD

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that a very long delay has been made in paying supplementary grants to ex-officers of the National Army; that serious embarrassement has been caused in many cases by the delay, and if he can say when these delayed grants will be paid.

The consideration of applications from ex-officers for supplementary grants has, in some cases, been prolonged owing to the fact that persons mentioned by applicants as references in support of claims to pre-Truce service, have delayed or failed to furnish certain required particulars.

I am not aware that long delay in making payments has been due to any other cause. But if the Deputy will give me details of any cases he has in mind I shall have enquiries made and communicate with him.
