asked the Minister for Education whether he will arrange that the surplus of £11,708 remaining out of the Interim Grant for secondary teachers for the current financial year will be devoted, in the first instance, to restoring to lay teachers the amounts of grant withheld from them by reason of the operation of Rule VI. of the Rules governing the original distribution of the Grant, in recognition of the hardship that has been inflicted on several of those teachers, especially those of long service.
CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DISTRIBUTION OF SECONDARY TEACHERS' INTERIM GRANT.
I propose to seek the necessary sanction for the amendment of the regulations governing the distribution of this Grant in order to make provision for a supplementary distribution from the surplus remaining undistributed. Should it be found possible to have this supplementary distribution made, special consideration will be given to the claims of teachers whose shares of the Grant have been prejudicially affected by the operation of Rule VI.
