Vol. 9 No. 22

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - COURTS ON CATHOLIC HOLY DAYS.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state if Sit-things of Law Courts are being held on Catholic Holy Days, and if so, whether the practice has his approval.

At present the courts sit on those Catholic Holy Days upon which the public services generally are maintained. They do not sit on Holy Days which are also Bank Holidays, not on Good Friday. I do not see any objection to this practice. The Sittings for the future of the different courts set up under the Courts of Justice Act, 1924, will be determined by the rules of the respective courts. As these rules have to be laid before the Dáil for its approval the Deputy will have an opportunity of dealing then with the subject matter of his question.
