Vol. 10 No. 4

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - BALBRIGGAN CONTRACTOR'S CLAIM.

TOMAS MAC EOIN

asked the Minister for Finance whether the balance of the account due to Mr. J. Rooney, contractor, Balbriggan, for building six houses for the Town Commissioners of Balbriggan under the authority of the Local Government Board—which houses have been occupied by tenants for over three years—has been passed for payment, and, if so, if he can state how soon the contractor may expect to be paid.

Payment of the contractor is a matter for the Town Commissioners, and presumably they propose to pay this balance out of the final instalment of the loan for which they have applied. I authorised in December last the issue of the final instalment on condition that the Commissioners paid the outstanding sum due by them in repayment of previous loan-advances, together with penal interest. The arrears of loan repayment have been received by the Office of Public Works, but the amount due on foot of penal interest is still awaited.
