Vol. 10 No. 12

COMMITTEE ON FINANCE. - VOTE No. 51.—ENDOWED SCHOOLS.

I beg to move:—

Go ndeontar Suim Bhreise ná raghaidh thar £20 chun íoctha an Mhuirir a thiocfidh chun bheith iníoctha i rith na bliana dar críoch an 31adh lá de Mhárta, 1925 mar gheall ar Thuarastal Rúnaí, maraon le bonús, agus mar gheall ar Chos- taisí Oifig na gCoimisinéirí chun Bronntanaisi airithe Scoile in Eirinn do bhainistí (53 Geo. III., c. 107; 17 and 18 Vict., c. 94; and 48 and 49 Vict., c. 78, Scheme 34).

That a Supplementary sum not ex ceeding £20 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending the 31st day of March, 1925, for the Salary of the Secretary, including bonus, and the Expenses of the office of the Commissioners for managing certain School Endow- ments in Ireland (53 Geo. III., c 107; 17 and 18 Vict., c. 94; and 48 and 49 Vict., c. 78, Scheme 34).

This additional sum is required because of excess charges in respect of travelling allowances. In Estimates previous to the financial year 1923-1924 the amount put into the Estimate for travelling expenses was £100. This was reduced to £50 for the present year in view of the reduction in the number of Commissioners, which would reduce the travelling expenses. However, there was great delay in bringing about that reduction, and it did not take place until about July. That was really the reason why the reduced Estimate of £50 for the present year was found to be insufficient.

Question put and agreed to.
