Vol. 10 No. 16

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - RUMOURED DEMOBILISATION OF OFFICERS.

asked the Minister for Defence whether five hundred officers of the National Army are about to be demobilised, and, if so, whether he will state the reasons for such demobilisation.

There is absolutely no foundation for the suggestion contained in the question that five hundred—or any other number of officers are about to be demobilised. I should say, sir, that rumours are circulated from time to time which, if they were to go uncontradicted, would be to the detriment of the Army. Those rumours are circulated for the purpose of destroying the morale of the Army, which, I am glad to say, is at a very high pitch at the present time.
