Vol. 10 No. 18

CENTRAL FUND BILL, 1925—SECOND STAGE.

I move: "That the Central Fund Bill be read a second time."

I would like to know what is the intention of the Minister with regard to this Bill. It was first arranged that there should be, following this motion, a further motion respecting the Fourth and Fifth Stages. It has been suggested that the discussion that I gave notice of raising on this Bill respecting unemployment, unemployment insurance, and cognate subjects might be postponed until to-morrow for the later stage. If the later stage is to be taken to-morrow, then I am satisfied, but if the later stage is to be taken to-night, then it is better that we should follow the original intention.

Very good. I am quite willing to arrange anything that will suit the Deputy. If the Second Reading is passed now, we might, perhaps, formally move the next stage, and then carry it over until to-morrow.

Question—"That the Central Fund Bill, 1925, be read a second time"— put and agreed to.
Committee Stage ordered for Friday, March 27.
