Vol. 10 No. 19

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACCOUNT FOR REPAIRING ARMS.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state when Mr. John Shields, of Drumgore, Loughduss, will be paid his account of £89 0s. 0d. for repairing arms for the Irish Volunteers.

The claim referred to by the Deputy was transferred some time ago from the Department of Defence to my Department, and was referred to the Committee appointed under the Indemnity Act.

The Committee's report has been received and they are of opinion that the claim is not within the scope of their terms of reference. It is regretted, therefore, that no compensation will be payable.

Is the Minister aware that on the 12th October last Commandant Woods reported that the claim was in order, and sent it to Portobello Barracks?

No. I am not aware of that.
