Vol. 10 No. 20

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - LOANS FOR TEACHERS' RESIDENCES.

asked the Minister for Finance whether arrangements have yet been completed for making loans available from the Local Loans Vote for the building of teachers' residences, and, if not, if he will state when it is expected to have them completed.

No arrangements are being made for the purpose of making loans out of the Local Loans Fund for the provision of residences for national teachers, and no provision has been inserted for such an object in the Local Loans Vote for 1925-26. The maximum loan permissible under the National School Teachers' Residences (Ireland) Acts, 1875, etc., is £250. In view of the present cost of building such a sum would be insufficient to meet the cost of providing a residence.
