Vol. 10 No. 20

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - WEXFORD BOARD OF HEALTH CLAIMS.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether the cheque recently issued to the County Wexford Board of Health purports to be a full settlement of the claims made by that body for a sum of £404 2s. 3d. and £66 0s. 0d. respectively.

The Office of Public Works has only received one claim from the County Wexford Board of Health arising out of the military occupation of Gorey Workhouse, namely, that for £404 2s. 3d., which is referred to in the present question, and was the one dealt with in the Deputy's question of 27th March. This claim is in respect of occupation, rent and damage to the premises, and the Minister for Local Government and Public Health has still under consideration the question of whether the compensation, or part of it, should be paid to him, the buildings being vested in him. The payment of £35 19s. 3d. recently made in respect of the part of the claim covering glazing and building up of loopholes was, as stated in the reply to the Deputy's question of 27th March, only made to the Board of Health as a special measure in view of the urgency of the repairs.

No claim for £66 0s. 0d. has been received in the Office of Public Works in connection with this occupation, but the Board of Health has foreshadowed a further claim in respect of damage to furniture.
