Vol. 10 No. 21

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DROICHEAD NUA INSURANCE CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that Miss Brigid McElligott, of Droichead Nua, National Insurance Card No. 02853, County Kildare Insurance Society, who has over one hundred and twenty stamps to her credit from August, 1922, when she first went into employment, to October, 1924, when she became ill, and who has sent in ten medical certificates, dated 1st, 8th and 26th November, 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st December, 1924, and the 10th and 15th January, 1925, has only received 11/3 benefit on the last certificate; further, that although several applications have been made for her record card, she has received no reply, and if in view of the serious loss and inconvenience caused to the applicant in this case he will have inquiries made with a view to having the balance due paid forthwith and the record card forwarded to Miss McElligott.

No complaint has been received by the Insurance Commissioners on behalf of Miss Brigid McElligott, of Droichead Nua, regarding the failure of the County Kildare Insurance Society to pay her the full amount of sickness benefit to which she believes she is entitled, or to issue to her a record card for which she has applied. The Commissioners are, however, having inquiries made at the head office of the society to ascertain whether the member is in fact entitled to further payment of benefit and if so to ensure that the outstanding balance will be paid without further delay. At the same time the society will be asked to issue a record card to the member.
