Vol. 11 No. 1

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - THE GOUGH (GORT) ESTATE.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether an application has been received from the labourers formerly employed on the Gough Estate, Loughcutra, Gort, for portions of the estate, and whether in view of the fact that these labourers lost their employment as a result of the acquiring of this estate by the Land Commission, their application will get prior consideration when the estate is being divided.

Mr. HOGAN

The reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The Land Commission have agreed to purchase 266a. 0r. 6p. of land on this estate, of which about 66 acres is turbary.

Applications for divisions of land have been received from persons who state they have been disemployed by reason of the sale of the lands, and such applications will receive consideration in conjunction with the need to relieve any prevalent congestion.
