CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - INSURANCE SOCIETIES FUNDS.

TOMAS MAC EOIN

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if, in consequence of the transfer of engagements under the National Health Insurance Act the adjustments in the funds of Societies in this country have yet taken place, and, if so, if the amount ascertained to be due to Saorstát Societies has been credited to the Irish Insurance Fund, and if sums invested prior to the Treaty in British securities will be made available for investment in Irish securities.

TOMAS MAC EOIN

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if the Insurance Commissioners have, under Section 15 of the National Health Insurance Act 1923 established the National Health Insurance Central Fund; if so, if he will state the total amount carried to that Fund from the Central Fund established under the control of the Joint Committee, and if the total amount carried into the Fund represents the sum which on apportionment was found to be attributable to Saorstát Eireann, and, further, if he can say the total amount now to credit of the National Health Insurance Central Fund.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state the total number of (a) men and (b) women who were in effective membership of Approved Societies at December 31st in each of the last five years for which this information is available; if he can state the number of new claims for sickness benefit received by Approved Societies from men and women respectively who were not entitled to receive benefit in respect of the first three days of their illness in each of these periods; the total number of weeks' benefit in respect of sickness and disablement paid out of the Approved Societies' Funds and out of the Deposit Contributors' Fund to (a) men and (b) women, during each such period.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state approximately the total amount of money to the credit at December 31st, 1924 (or at the last date at which the accounts have been ascertained) of each of the several following accounts created under the National Health Insurance Acts, 1911 to 1918, that is to say:—The Approved Societies Current Account; The Deposit Contributors Fund Account; The Commissioners Investment Account; The Approved Societies Investment Account; The Commissioners Current Account; The Unclaimed Stamps Account; The Initial Reserves Value Account; The Reserve Values (Apportionment) Account; The Reserve Values (Interest) Account; The Reserve Values (Redemption) Account; The Reserve Suspense Account; The Unattached Members' Fund Account; The Dissolved Societies' Fund Account; The Contingencies Fund Account; The Central Fund Account; Societies Investments:—Mortgages and Loans. British War Loan, National Loan, Other Securities, and other accounts which have been created.

TOMAS MAC EOIN

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state the aggregate amount of the investments made by or on behalf of Approved Societies in Saorstát Eireann under Section 56 (1) (b) of the National Health Insurance, 1911, and if he can further state the value of these investments: (a) made by the Approved Societies in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (2) of Section 56, and (b) made by the National Health Insurance Commissioners under sub-section (3) of that section, and if he can distinguish between the investments made in respect of men and women.

The replies required by the Deputy to questions 4, 6, 7, 8 and 10 will take some time to prepare. If he will set them down again towards the end of next week I hope to be in a position to reply.

I give notice of my intention to ask these questions again next Thursday.
