CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - VERSCHOYLE ESTATE (ATHY).

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he can state when the Verschoyle estate, situate at Newtown Birt, Athy, will be divided; if he is aware that some of the uneconomic holders, on or in the neighbourhood of this estate, are under notice of eviction and have been deprived of turbary for the past three seasons pending the acquisition of the estate by the Land Commission, and if, taking those conditions into consideration, he will ask the Land Commission to expedite their division.

The lands of Newtownbirt, comprising 286 acres 3 roods 37 perches turbary, on the estate of W. H. Verschoyle, have been published in the Provisional List as lands which, in default of valid objection, will be vested in the Land Commission. The purchase money of the lands is the subject of negotiation with the owner. The matter will be dealt with as expeditiously as possible, having regard to the proceedings which are also pending for the adjoining estate.
