asked the Minister for Finance if, on the 6th November, 1921, a motor car, the property of Mr. John Deering, Knockarda, Palatine, Carlow, was seized by an officer in charge of the Volunteers at Duckett's Grove and retained until the 14th of February, 1922, when it was returned in a wrecked condition; if on the 11th September, 1923, a claim for £150, covering cost of repairs (£59 3s. 4d.) and the loss occasioned by its detention, was lodged by Mr. J. J. Duggan, Mr. Deering's solicitor; if, in the month of February, 1924, detailed particulars of the claim, and subsequently a statutory declaration answering all queries, were returned to the Army Finance Office; if, on the 25th of March, 1925, claimant's solicitor was referred to the Indemnity Claims Commission; if, on the 23rd and 26th of the same month, the latter body were communicated with and the correspondence acknowledged on the 8th of June, when information was given that the matter was being dealt with; if several further communications have been sent on behalf of Mr. Deering, which have not been acknowledged, and if the Minister will take steps to have this long-outstanding claim settled.

The claim referred to by the Deputy was received by the Department of Defence and referred in due course to the Committee appointed under the Indemnity Act, 1924. Representations have been made to the Committee with a view to having the consideration of the claim expedited.
