Vol. 13 No. 9

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CLAIM FOR COMMANDEERING.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state why compensation has not been paid to Mr. Hearn, Bawnjames, New Ross, in respect of the commandeering of his motor car by Irish Volunteers on the 29th April, 1921.

The claim on behalf of the person named by the Deputy was lodged in the first instance with the Compensation (Ireland) Commission, but rejected by that tribunal as not being within its Terms of Reference. The papers in connection with the matter have recently been referred to the Indemnity Act Committee, and will be dealt with in due course.
