Vol. 13 No. 10

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - OFFICIAL IMPORT LIST.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that copies of the Official Import List have not been available since last July, and that in consequence traders have not been able to comply with the requirements of the Customs Authorities that all goods must be entered in accordance with their official description, and if, in view of the delay and inconvenience which has been caused thereby, he will state when the new list, which has been under consideration for over a year, will be issued.

Steps were taken to simplify, and to reduce the number of headings in, the Official Import List.

When the material for the revised List was ready, it was deemed advisable to incorporate the extensive Budget changes resulting from the Finance Act, 1925. The revised List in its final form is with the printers, and it is hoped that copies will be available very shortly. Copies of the old List corrected to date are available to the public for reference at the Customs Offices at which goods are required to be entered, and it should be possible for importers and agents to avoid the delay and inconvenience referred to in the question, pending the issue of the revised List.

Will the Minister do all he can to expedite the production of the new List?

I will. I think the delay will be a very brief one.
