Vol. 13 No. 12

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - COMPENSATION FOR DAMAGE TO SCHOOLS.

SEAMUS O CRUADHLAOICH

asked the Minister for Finance if he can state why there has been delay in the payment of the sum of £45, awarded by the Compensation (Ireland) Commission as compensation, without conditions, for damage to Ballincrossig and Rathmorrell National Schools; whether he is aware that the repairs have long since been completed by Rev. Father George O'Callaghan, P.P., Causeway, who is manager of these schools, and that no reply has been sent by the Department to his letter of a month ago enquiring as to this award.

The award referred to by the Deputy has been duly received by my Department, but there is no record of the receipt of the communication stated to have been sent by the manager of the schools. A very large number of awards have been received from the Compensation Commission and their discharge is proceeding as rapidly as possible. It is anticipated that payment of the award now in question will be effected at a very early date.
