Vol. 13 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - RESIGNED R.I.C.-MAN'S PENSION CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has considered the claim of Patrick Cleary, Kilmihil, Co. Clare, for a pension; if he is aware that evidence has been furnished to his Department that Mr. Cleary resigned from the R.I.C. in 1920 for patriotic reasons, and if he will state what stage of investigation the claim has now reached.

Mr. Cleary's application for a pension was duly investigated by the Committee of Inquiry into Resignations and Dismissals from the Royal Irish Constabulary. The Committee did not report favourably on the claim, and having reviewed all the facts and circumstances of the case, I have decided not to authorise the grant of a pension to Mr. Cleary, and he was so informed in May last.
