Vol. 13 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ATHLONE MILITARY COURT FINE.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that Patrick Logan, Carricknaughten, Athlone, was on March 31st, 1923, fined the sum of £50, at a Military Court held in Athlone, and if he can state whether this fine was to compensate the owner of the land alleged to have been damaged by Mr. Logan, and, if not, to whom this £50 was paid; and, further, whether the amount of the fine will be refunded if it was retained by the military, as the dispute over these lands has been settled on payment by Mr. Logan of the full amount due on the land to the owner.

A Military Court held at Athlone on the 31st March, 1923, sentenced Thomas Logan, not Patrick Logan, to a fine of £50 which was paid into public funds. The question of refunding the money is under consideration. I shall inform the Deputy of the decision at an early date.
