Vol. 13 No. 15

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - KERRY BLIND PENSION CLAIM.

DOMHNALL O MUIRGHEASA

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he has come to any decision on the claim of Michael Foran, of Newtownsandes, Co. Kerry, for a pension under the Blind Persons Act, and whether he will give consideration to the claimant's statement that six medical certificates of blindness can be produced.

This claim was disallowed on the 6th July, 1925, on the ground that the claimant did not fulfil the statutory condition of blindness. A detailed examination of his eyesight was made on the 19th June last by one of the Department's Medical Inspectors. His report showed that the claimant's standard of vision was then in excess of that upon which the blind pension is allowable.
