Vol. 14 No. 3

FINANCIAL RESOLUTION: STATISTICS BILL, 1925.

I move:—

Go bhfuil sé oiriúnach a údarú go n-íocfar amach as airgead a shóláthróidh an tOireachtas na costaisí fé n-a raghfar chun aon Acht a rithfar sa tSiosón so do chur in éifeacht chun údarú agus a shocrú go ndéanfidh an Stát statistíocht do bhailiú, do chur le chéile, do thógaint amach agus d'fhoillsiú.

That it is expedient to authorise the payment out of moneys provided by the Oireachtas of the expenses incurred in carrying into effect any Act of the present Session to authorise and provide for the collection, compilation, abstraction and publication of statistics by the State.

The Message prescribed by the Constitution has been received from his Excellency the Governor-General. The Bill is one largely for the concentration of the duties and powers in connection with statistics in one department. It is difficult to estimate what the increase in expenditure might be, but as the coordination and concentration contemplated will take place gradually extra expense would not be considerable for some time to come. Some saving in publication may be achieved which will go as a set off to any extra expenses incurred in the collection of statistics, because we will have, in some cases, the statistics now published in separate volumes concentrated in one particular publication.
