Vol. 16 No. 18

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - A CLOSED FOOT-BRIDGE ON THE LIFFEY.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that the foot-bridge over the River Liffey connecting the Lower Road and Palmerstown, Co. Dublin, has been closed by the owner, Lord Iveagh, for some time past, and whether, having regard to the distance as between Chapelizod and Lucan, and the inconvenience which the closing of this bridge has caused the residents, he will take the necessary steps to have the bridge reopened or a new bridge erected.

I understand that the bridge referred to has recently been closed to the public by the owner. I am not empowered to have the bridge reopened or to compel the County Council to erect a new bridge. The matter is one for them in the first instance.
