Vol. 16 No. 21

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - OLD AGE PENSION (NAAS).

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state the reasons for the delay in paying an old age pension to James Walshe (No. in Pensions Officers' Register 4425), who was awarded a pension of 9/- per week on the 10th May, 1926, by the Naas Urban Pensions Sub-Committee, and whether he can expedite payment to this man, who is in very poor circumstances.

This claim to the old age pension was disallowed on means on the 22nd ultimo. Age has been established by birth certificate. The claimant is a blacksmith and his earnings are estimated as averaging 10/- a week. In addition he has a home assistance allowance of 7/- a week. His total means, therefore, as calculated for old age pension purposes, amount to £44 4s. 0d. a year. In the circumstances he is not at present eligible for any pension under the Old Age Pensions Acts.
