Vol. 17 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CORRECT WEIGHTS.

asked the President if he is aware that legislation has been introduced in the British Parliament for the purpose of securing for retail purchasers the correct weight in provisions and foodstuffs, and if he has given consideration to the advisability of introducing similar legislation in the Saorstát, and. if so, what decision has been arrived at.

The legislation referred to was introduced in consequence of recommendations made by the Council set up by the British Government to investigate food prices. A Tribunal is now investigating such prices in the Saorstát and should it see fit, when its inquiries are completed, to recommend any similar legislation the matter will be given full consideration.

Is the Minister able to say when that report is likely to be available?

I cannot say.
