Vol. 19 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT.

PADRAIG O DUBHTHAIGH

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that Mr. P.J. Keane, Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, has made application for unemployment benefit; that applicant has been in insurable employment and contributed to unemployment insurance for a number of years, and that his application has been refused; whether the Minister will now give the reason for such refusal, and whether he will reopen the application in this case for further consideration.

A claim to unemployment benefit made on the 19th July, 1926, by Patrick J. Keane, of Carrickmacross, was disallowed, on appeal, by the Umpire on the ground that the claimant was not unemployed within the meaning of Section 7 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920. The decision of the Umpire is final, and cannot be reconsidered unless further evidence, which was not before the Umpire when he gave his decision, is put forward by the claimant.
