Vol. 20 No. 15

PRIVATE NOTICE QUESTION. - CONTINUED DETENTION OF A PRISONER.

asked the President if he is aware that Owen Donnelly who, among others, was arrested in connection with the assassination of the late Vice-President, and who was subsequently ordered by the District Justice to be discharged from custody on Monday last, is still detained, and if he will state the reason for his continued detention.

Owen Donnelly is being detained pending police investigations into certain information which has reached them. He will be brought before the District Court at the earliest possible moment.

Could the President say if this man was released in pursuance of the order of the District Justice and then rearrested, or was he detained and not discharged at all?

The Deputy should put that question to me later, as I have no immediate information on the subject.
