Vol. 20 No. 19

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - TEACHERS' PENSIONS.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number of pensioned teachers receiving £25 £40, £50, £75 and £100 per year, and if he will give consideration to the appeal of these citizens for an increase in pension.

The preparation of the statistics asked for will take some time and I will send them to the Deputy as soon as they are available. I hope to have them completed next week. As regards the concluding portion of the question, I have already given this matter very careful consideration and cannot see my way to recommend to the Executive Council any further increase of pension in the case of these teachers.

Mr. BYRNE

If the Ministers finds that there is only a small number of teachers in receipt of these very small sums will be reconsider the matter?

I think that the matter has been fully considered on more than one occasion.
