Vol. 21 No. 3

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - GAELTACHT COMMISSION RECOMMENDATIONS.

asked the President whether, in view of the poverty existing in Tirconaill, especially in the Irish-speaking districts, he will state if the Executive Council have reached any decision in regard to putting into operation the recommendations contained in the Report of the Gaeltacht Commission.

The examination of the Report of the Gaeltacht Commission has now been completed and a White Paper indicating the action already taken and contemplated in regard to each of the several recommendations of the Commission is in an advanced state of preparation.

Is the President prepared to indicate the date upon which the Government will make a full statement in regard to the recommendations in connection with the various items in the Report?

I do not exactly follow the question. I stated that a White Paper indicating the action already taken and contemplated in regard to each of the several recommendations of the Commission is in an advanced state of preparation. Pending the publication of that document, I do not see how I could be called upon to advance the matter any further.
