The Norwegian law to which the Deputy refers is presumably that passed in June, 1926, coming into operation not later than 1st July last. I am aware of the provisions of this legislation, which has not been sufficiently long in operation to enable its permanent results to be ascertained. In reply to the concluding portion of the Deputy's question, all that I am in a position to say is that the results of this and any similar legislation in other countries will, of course, be followed with interest by the Government in their consideration of questions connected with the development of the growing of grain crops in this country. It is more than likely that that Act is entirely unsuitable to this country.
