Vol. 21 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - PENSION DISALLOWED (ROSCOMMON).

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health on what grounds an old age pension was disallowed to Bridget Tobin (Appeal No. 1956) of Stonepark, Keadue, County Roscommon, and if he is aware that the Boyle Sub-Committee has on more than one occasion allowed the claim, and whether as it is over four years since the application was first made, the Minister will say if he is prepared to reconsider this case.

It was determined on the 30th ultimo that this claimant was not entitled to any pension, as it was not clear on the evidence that her means, as calculated under the Old Age Pensions Acts, were within the statutory limit for the receipt of a pension. This was the first occasion on which the case came for adjudication on appeal but it appears that a previous claim was disallowed by the Boyle No. 1 Pension Sub-Committee in March, 1926. Decisions given on appeal under the Old Age Pensions Acts cannot be reconsidered.
