Vol. 21 No. 7

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - COUNTY DONEGAL ESTATES.

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether he will state what action, if any, has been taken in the cases of Miss, Porter's Estate, Burt. County Donegal, and the Estates in Fahan, Burt and Inch.

The question of the acquisition of the untenanted land on the Miss Porter Estate, Burt, Co. Donegal, is at present under consideration by the Land Commission.

The other Estates referred to cannot be identified unless the names of the owners and of the townlands on which the lands are situate are furnished.

Were not the particulars regarding these other estates at Fahan, Inch and Burt already supplied to you by an important person in that district?

If the Deputy had given the names of the Estates in his question I could have identified them.

The Parish Priest of Fahan supplied the particulars.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware, in connection with the first Estate mentioned, that the people working on it for the past forty years, but who had rented it, are now being dispossessed from their holdings? Is he aware that these people are now thrown out and that this land has been purchased in the open market by a man who has already over two hundred acres of land?

I am aware of all that. I am aware also that this matter was brought to the notice of the Land Commission only recently, and the Estate is one that is purchased and subject to a Land Commission annuity at present.

A DEPUTY

What about two hundred acres of land for an average farmer?
