Vol. 21 No. 7

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - IMPROVEMENTS IN ACHILL.

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether the area known as the townland and village of Dooniver, Bunnacurry, Achill, County Mayo, has been acquired by the Irish Land Commission; and, if so, whether the area has yet been divided among the congests resident on it; whether any improvements have been carried out by the Land Commission in the area since its acquisition, and if so, can he give a general outline of such improvements.

The area known as the townland and village of Dooniver, Bunnacurry, Achill, Co. Mayo, was included in the estate of Lord Sligo vested in the late Congested Districts Board, who purchased out the interest of the middle landlord.

The only lands on the townland remaining to be finally striped consist of rough mountain and bog used by the tenants for purposes of grazing and turbary.

There were five new houses built by the tenants with the assistance of the Congested Districts Board, and accommodation roads were made at a total cost of £736 4s. 2d.
