Vol. 21 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - COST OF TRIBUNAL ON PRICES.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what was the total amount expended in connection with the recent Tribunal on Prices, including expenditure on secretarial and general clerical work, stenography, rent of offices, advertisements, allowances to and expenses of members of the Tribunal, allowances to and expenses of witnesses, legal expenses, including the cost of proceedings in the High Court, and all other costs and expenses whatsoever.

As the Report of the Tribunal on Food Prices has not yet been printed and as certain of the expenditure, such as rates attributable to the offices of the Tribunal at 5 Ely Place, Dublin, can only be estimated, it is not possible to state precisely the cost in connection with the Tribunal.

An examination of all the items of expenditure has been made and I am in a position to inform the Deputy that a fairly accurate estimate of the cost of this Tribunal would be £1,667. This estimate includes all the items specified in the Deputy's question and all costs and expenses whatsoever arising in connection with this Tribunal.
