Vol. 21 No. 9

PUBLIC BUSINESS. - DENTISTS BILL, 1927—MONEY RESOLUTION.

The Dáil went into Committee on Finance.

I move:—

"That it is expedient to authorise the payment out of moneys to be provided by the Oireachtas of any expenses incurred in carrying into effect any Act of the present Session to make provision for the registration and control of persons practising Dentistry or Dental Surgery and for other purposes relating to the practice of Dentistry or Dental Surgery and the persons engaged in such practice."

Section 17 provides that the Minister for Finance shall defray out of monies provided by the Oireachtas the expenses incurred in carrying out the Act up to the expiration of one year from the date of setting up the Register. It is intended that the same Registrar and office staff shall serve the administration of this Act and the Medical Practitioners Act, which has been passed into law already, and it is accordingly difficult to give any separate estimate of the expenditure involved under the Dentists Act, but it is thought it will be from £700 to £750. The estimated expenditure of the joint registers is about £2,360; £600, say, for the salary of the Registrar; various clerical work, including typing, £300; fees and travelling expenses, £250; printing, £1,200; audit fee, etc.
