Vol. 21 No. 15

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - IRISH LIGHTS SERVICE.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is yet in a position to state what the attitude of his Department is in connection with the letter received from the British Board of Trade Office with reference to better conditions for men employed in the Irish Lights Service.

The question presumably refers to proposals to apply to men in the Irish Lights Service increases of pay awarded to corresponding grades in the Lights Service of Great Britain. Subject to stipulations that any such increases are to be regarded as temporary and subject to review when the service has been transferred, no objection has been made to the improved rates being granted for the present to general grades in the Irish Service.

Does that mean that these rates are to come into operation shortly?
