asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture to state whether he has received from the Cattle Traders' Association the proposition or scheme referred to in the Dáil on the 13th May last, for the raising of a fund by a levy on cattle exported, to cover compensation for losses due to foot and mouth disease, with a view to giving it legislative effect, and when he proposes to introduce proposals for such legislation.

I have received a draft of the scheme referred to, and have had it carefully examined. As there are, however, matters of principle and detail involved which require further consideration, I am unable to make a statement on the subject at present, but hope to do so at a very early date.
