Vol. 21 No. 16

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CARRIAGE OF DEAD POULTRY.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that the Great Southern Railway refuse to carry dead poultry by goods train, although they allow pork and other perishables to be carried by that service, and that the rate for poultry by passenger train from Gorey to London is 2/7 per cwt. more than that charged for pork carried on goods train; and if representations will be made to the railway company to permit such freight being carried by goods train.

The Great Southern Railways Company inform me that they do not refuse to carry dead poultry by goods train services. The comparison between passenger train rates for one article and goods train rates for another made in the question does not, therefore, arise.
