Vol. 21 No. 18

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ROAD TO CO. CORK BOG.

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether he is aware that a road is badly needed to provide access to a turf bog on Glanlough Mountain, Durrus, Co. Cork, that the bog is unapproachable in winter time, and that many poor people after paying for their turf cannot get it out, and if the Minister will take steps to have a road constructed, in pursuance of the general powers of improvement vested in the Land Commission, and thereby give much-needed employment in this area.

Particulars under the Land Act, 1923, have been lodged with the Land Commission of 554 acres of the townland of Glanlough on the de Gernon estate, of which 172 acres are set out as in the occupation of four tenants and 380 acres are described as commonage over which these four tenants and six tenants on the Barrett estate, which is also pending for sale under the Act of 1923, have rights of grazing and turbary. The question of constructing a road will be considered by the Land Commission.
