Vol. 22 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - TOWN TENANTS LEGISLATION.

asked the Minister for Justice when it is intended to introduce proposals for legislation dealing with the position of town tenants.

A Commission is now sitting to inquire into and to examine the existing law governing the relationship of landlord and tenant in respect of holdings in urban districts, towns and villages. The report of this Commission must be awaited before any steps can be taken to consider what legislative proposals regarding town tenancies are necessary or desirable.

Will the Minister inform me how long the Commission has been sitting; when its report is expected, and is it intended to introduce legislation on the matter during the present session?

There can be no legislation on the matter until the report is received. As to when the report will be received, I have at the present moment no definite information.

Can the Minister inform me how long the Commission has been sitting?

Twelve months.

The Commission was appointed in January, 1927.
