Vol. 22 No. 2

PRIVATE BUSINESS. - MOTION ON OLD AGE PENSIONS.

May I ask the President when it is proposed to take the discussion on Deputy Morrissey's motion?

After questions this day week. I have not been able to see Deputy Morrissey, but I understood there was general agreement. I would be very agreeable to take the motion this day week.

Is it the intention of the President to let the discussion be proceeded with until it finishes?

I presume it is.

Without interruption?

I cannot guarantee that.

It is to be understood that "after questions next Wednesday" means as the first opposed business. There may be other business before that.

When will the President take number 12 on the Order Paper, that is, the motion with regard to a Select Committee in connection with claims arising out of the civil war?

As regards items 10, 12 and 13, they come on in the ordinary course in private members' time. I am not prepared to give Government time for the consideration of these.

Would the President name a day when he would be prepared to take this motion?

I would take it to-night if the Deputy wishes.

Private members' business comes on at 7 o'clock this evening. There is one motion down in the name of Deputy Lemass, and that has precedence because of the order in which it was handed in.

I am willing to take 10 and 12 to-night if the Deputy agrees.
