Vol. 22 No. 4

VOTE 40.—OFFICE OF THE MINISTER FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH.

I move:—

Go ndeontar suim bhreise ná raghaidh thar £10 chun íoctha an Mhuirir a thiocfidh chun bheith iníoctha i rith na bliana dar críoch an 31adh lá de Mhárta, 1928, chun Tuarastail agus Costaisí Oifig an Aire Rialtais Aitiúla agus Sláinte Puiblí, maraon le Deontaisí agus Costaisí eile a bhaineann le Tógáil Tithe, Deontaisí d'Udaráis Aitiúla agus Ildeontaisí i gCabhair, agus Costaisí Oifig Chigire na nGealtlann.

That a supplementary sum not exceeding £10 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1928, for the Salaries and Expenses of the Office of the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, including Grants and other Expenses in connection with Housing, Grants to Local Authorities and Sundry Grants in Aid, and the Expenses of the Office of the Inspector of Lunatic Asylums.

I do not suppose we missed much, but it may be of interest to the Minister to know that no one on this side heard a single word of what he said.

The purpose of the Vote is to make provision for expenses under Section 18 of the Medical Practitioners Act, 1927. Under that section the expenses in connection with the making up of the register, and secretarial work, have to be borne up to the period of the making of the register and for a year after. A Medical Board has been set up, and the work of preparing a register which would come into force on the 28th May is in hands. No provision was made for expenditure of the kind when the Estimates were introduced last year, so that a supplementary vote is necessary.

Vote put and agreed to.
