Vol. 22 No. 7

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - IMPORTATION OF HORSE SHOES.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that there are over one hundred farriers at present unemployed in Dublin as a direct result of the importation of foreign machine-made horse-shoes, and if he will consider the advisability of imposing a tariff on these imports.

I am not aware that unemployment among farriers in Dublin is so extensive as the Deputy states. I would not consider the imposition of a tariff on horse shoes in the absence of an application under the Tariff Commission Act and a report by the Commission.
