Vol. 22 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - EMERGENCY RELIEF DISTRIBUTION.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that in the distribution of emergency relief last Christmas the Commissioners, acting for the Board of Guardians of Dublin Union, refused to grant relief to a number of women applicants who were in great distress, and whether, if details of such cases are furnished, he will cause inquiries to be made into the matter.

I understand the emergency relief referred to was confined mainly to married men unemployed with dependents and to widows with children over age and unemployed. Single men and women did not come within its scope.
