Vol. 22 No. 9

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CORK ANNUITY ARREARS.

asked the Minister for Fisheries what is the total amount of arrears in land annuities due to 1st January, 1928, in Cork County, and the amount of agricultural grant stopped from Cork County Council in the financial year 1927-28, in respect of arrears in land annuities.

Figures showing the arrears of land purchase annuities in County Cork as of 1st January, 1928, are not available, but the arrears outstanding at 31st January, 1928, amount to £48,769. The second part of the question should be addressed to the Minister for Local Government and Public Health.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary be prepared to accept these arrears by small instalments?

The Deputy had better communicate with the Land Commission on that matter. It depends entirely on the circumstances of the case. The Land Commission is under a statutory obligation to collect these arrears.
