Vol. 22 No. 11

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - RELIEF WORKS AT CAPE CLEAR.

asked the Minister for Fisheries what action has been taken by the Land Commission on proposals submitted for relief works by Rev. Fr. O'Donovan, C.C., on behalf of Cape Clear, County Cork; if he will state the date of the Inspector's visit to the island, and the nature of his report on the proposed work; whether, in view of the fact that great poverty prevails on the island, which forms portion of the area known as the "Gaeltacht," he will state what action is proposed, or what action has in fact been taken.

The application for the expenditure of portion of the Relief Scheme Vote in the districts mentioned was not received until the major portion of the money available for expenditure on works in West Cork had been fully allocated. The small sum unallocated at that time was later devoted to works in Dunmanway, Rosscarbery and Union Hall districts, where pressing representations had been made of the urgent need for the relief of distress.

Mr. MURPHY

Will the Parliamentary Secretary consider the matter on another occasion?
