Vol. 22 No. 15

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - COMPENSATION FOR GUN.

(Tipperary) asked the Minister for Finance whether any application has been received from Patrick Ryan, Ballyhourigan, County Tipperary, for compensation for a gun taken by the Irish Republican Army in 1919 or 1920, and not returned; and if he will state why no compensation has been paid in this case.

No application can be traced from Patrick Ryan of Ballyhourigan, but the Deputy may refer to Patrick Ryan of Killoscully, on whose behalf a claim in respect of the loss of a shotgun in 1919 or 1920 was lodged. As this application was not received before the prescribed date, 1st November, 1924, it was not considered by the Committee set up under the Indemnity Act, 1924. I regret, accordingly, that no compensation can be paid in this case.
