Vol. 22 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - RAILWAY COMPANIES BUSES AND LORRIES.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether his attention has been drawn to the statement made on behalf of the Associated Railway Companies, before the Irish Railway Wages Board, on the 16th March, 1928, to the effect that the Government had appointed a Commission to see in what way easement could be given to the conditions under which railway companies own and operate buses and lorries; and whether the Minister will state the date of the appointment of such a Commission, its membership and its terms of reference.

I have seen a Press report that a statement was made to the effect quoted before the Railway Wages Board. No such Commission as was therein suggested has been appointed. The statement appears to have arisen out of a misconception of the functions of the Interdepartmental Committee which has been inquiring for some time into traffic regulation.
